L’chi Lach / Go you Forth
לכי לך אל הארץ שאראה לך
L’chi lach, to a land that I will show you
לך לך אל מקום שלא תכיר
Lech l’cha, to a place you do not know
לכי לך בדרכך אתן ברכה לך
L’chi lach, on your journey I will bless you
ולברכה תהיי את, לכי לך.
And you shall be a blessing, l’chi lach.
לכי לך ואני אגדיל מאוד שמך
L’chi lach, and I shall make your name great
לך לך אשבח את שמך
Lech l’cha, and all shall praise your name

Lecha Dodi / O Come, My Friend
לְכָה דוֹדִי לִקְרַאת כַּלָּה.
O come, my friend, let’s greet the bride,
פְּנֵי שַׁבָּת נְקַבְּלָה:
the Sabbath Presence bring inside.
שָׁמוֹר וְזָכוֹר בְּדִבּוּר אֶחָד,
“Keep” and “Remember” in a sole command
הִשְמִיעָנוּ אֵל הַמְּיֻחָד.
the solitary God did us command
ה’ אֶחָד וּשְמוֹ אֶחָד.
“I AM!” is one, the Name is one,
לְשֵׁם וּלְתִפְאֶרֶת וְלִתְהִלָּה:
in a name, in splendor, and in praise.
לִקְרַאת שַׁבָּת לְכוּ וְנֵלְכָה.
Toward the Sabbath, come, make haste,
כִּי הִיא מְקוֹר הַבְּרָכָה.
for she has every blessing’s taste,
מֵרֹאשׁ מִקֶּדֶם נְסוּכָה.
explained at first, and long ago,
סוֹף מַעֲשֶׂה בְּמַחֲשָׁבָה תְּחִלָּה:
the last thing made, the first in mind.
מִקְדַּשׁ מֶלֶךְ עִיר מְלוּכָה.
O, Sovereign’s abode, O, holy, regal town,
קוּמִי צְאִי מִתּוֹךְ הַהֲפֵכָה.
rise up, emerge, where once cast down,
רַב לָךְ שֶׁבֶת בְּעֵמֶק הַבָּכָא.
enough of sitting in the vale of tears,
וְהוּא יַחֲמוֹל עָלַיִךְ חֶמְלָה:
God pities you, yes you God spares,
הִתְנַעֲרִי מֵעָפָר קוּמִי.
Be stirred, rise up, throw off the dust,
לִבְשִׁי בִּגְדֵי תִפְאַרְתֵּךְ עַמִּי:
my people, don your clothes of eminence,
עַל יַד בֶּן יִשַׁי בֵּית הַלַּחְמִי.
by hand of Bethle’mite Jesse’s child,
קָרְבָה אֶל נַפְשִׁי גְאָלָהּ:
draw near my soul, redeem it too.
הִתְעוֹרְרִי הִתְעוֹרְרִי.
Arouse yourself, arouse yourself,
כִּי בָא אוֹרֵךְ קוּמִי אוֹרִי.
your light has come, arise and shine,
עוּרִי עוּרִי שִׁיר דַבֵּרִי.
awake, awake, pour forth your song,
כְּבוֹד ה’ עָלַיִךְ נִגְלָה:
on you now shines the Glorious One.
לֹא תֵבוֹשִׁי וְלֹא תִכָּלְמִי.
Don’t be abashed, don’t be ashamed,
מַה תִּשְתּוֹחֲחִי וּמַה תֶּהֱמִי.
why be downcast, why do you sigh?
בָּךְ יֶחֱסוּ עֲנִיֵּי עַמִּי,
in you my people’s poor find shade,
וְנִבְנְתָה עִיר עַל תִּלָּהּ:
a city rebuilt where her ruins lay.
וְהָיוּ לִמְשִׁסָּה שֹׁאסָיִךְ.
Your robbers shall be robbed themselves,
וְרָחֲקוּ כָּל מְבַלְּעָיִךְ.
all your devourers will be removed,
יָשִׂישׂ עָלַיִךְ אֱלֹהָיִךְ.
your God rejoices at your side,
כִּמְשׂוֹשׂ חָתָן עַל כַּלָּה:
the joy of a bridegroom with his bride.
יָמִין וּשְׂמֹאל תִּפְרוֹצִי.
To right and left you shall burst forth,
וְאֶת־ה’ תַּעֲרִיצִי.
revering God, to south and north,
עַל יַד אִישׁ בֶּן פַּרְצִי.
by hand of one from Peretz’s line,
וְנִשְׂמְחָה וְנָגִילָה:
we shall rejoice and find delight.
בּוֹאִי בְשָׁלוֹם עֲטֶרֶת בַּעְלָהּ.
O, come in peace, O divine crown,
גַּם בְּשִׂמְחָה וּבְצָהֳלָה.
with joy, rejoicing, and with mirth,
תּוֹךְ אֱמוּנֵי עַם סְגֻּלָּה.
amid the faithful, loved by God,
בּוֹאִי כַלָּה, בּוֹאִי כַלָּה:

The fig-tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines in blossom give forth their fragrance. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.
