אֵיכָה יָשְׁבָה בָדָד, הָעִיר רַבָּתִי עָם–הָיְתָה, כְּאַלְמָנָה …

Alas, lonely sits the city once great with people – she is like a widow…

1:2

בָּכוֹ תִבְכֶּה בַּלַּיְלָה, וְדִמְעָתָהּ עַל לֶחֱיָהּ–אֵין-לָהּ מְנַחֵם, מִכָּל-אֹהֲבֶיהָ …

She cried cries at night, and her tears on her cheeks – she has no one to comfort her, from all her beloveds …

עַל-אֵלֶּה אֲנִי בוֹכִיָּה, עֵינִי עֵינִי יֹרְדָה מַּיִם …

On these things I weep, my eye my eye, water went down …

2:9

טָבְעוּ בָאָרֶץ שְׁעָרֶיהָ, אִבַּד וְשִׁבַּר בְּרִיחֶיהָ …

Her gates sank down into the land, her bars destroyed and broken …

יֵשְׁבוּ לָאָרֶץ יִדְּמוּ … הֶעֱלוּ עָפָר עַל-רֹאשָׁם, חָגְרוּ שַׂקִּים …

They sat on the ground and were silent … they put ashes up on their heads, and girded themselves with sackcloths …

3:1

אֲנִי הַגֶּבֶר רָאָה עֳנִי, בְּשֵׁבֶט עֶבְרָתוֹ

I am the man who has known affliction, under the rod of His wrath

ג:יז

3:17

וַתִּזְנַח מִשָּׁלוֹם נַפְשִׁי, נָשִׁיתִי טוֹבָה

My life was bereft of peace, I forgot goodness

ג:כח

3:28

יֵשֵׁב בָּדָד וְיִדֹּם, כִּי נָטַל עָלָיו

Let one sit alone and be patient, when He has laid [a yolk] upon him.

ג:מ

3:40

נַחְפְּשָׂה דְרָכֵינוּ וְנַחְקֹרָה, וְנָשׁוּבָה עַד ה’

Let us search and examine our ways, and turn back to God.

ג:מא

3:41

נִשָּׂא לְבָבֵנוּ אֶל-כַּפָּיִם, אֶל-אֵל בַּשָּׁמָיִם

Let us lift up our hearts with our hands to God in the heavens.

ג:מג

3:43

סַכּוֹתָה בָאַף וַתִּרְדְּפֵנוּ, הָרַגְתָּ לֹא חָמָלְתָּ

You covered Yourself in anger and chased us, You slayed without pity.

ג:מד

3:44

סַכּוֹתָה בֶעָנָן לָךְ, מֵעֲבוֹר תְּפִלָּה

You covered Yourself with a cloud, that no prayer may pass through.

ג:מז

3:47

פַּחַד וָפַחַת הָיָה לָנוּ, הַשֵּׁאת וְהַשָּׁבֶר

Panic and pitfall are our lot, death and destruction.

ג:מח

3:48

פַּלְגֵי-מַיִם תֵּרַד עֵינִי, עַל-שֶׁבֶר בַּת-עַמִּי

My eyes shed streams of water over the ruin of my people’s daughters.

ג:מט

3:49

עֵינִי נִגְּרָה וְלֹא תִדְמֶה, מֵאֵין הֲפֻגוֹת

My eyes shall flow without cease, without respite.

ג:נ

3:50

עַד-יַשְׁקִיף וְיֵרֶא, ה’ מִשָּׁמָיִם

Until God looks down and beholds, from heaven.

ג:נא

3:51

עֵינִי עוֹלְלָה לְנַפְשִׁי, מִכֹּל בְּנוֹת עִירִי

My eye deals severely with my soul, from all the daughters of my city.

ג:נד

3:54

צָפוּ-מַיִם עַל-רֹאשִׁי, אָמַרְתִּי נִגְזָרְתִּי

Waters flowed over my head, I said: I am cut off.

3:55

קָרָאתִי שִׁמְךָ ה’, מִבּוֹר תַּחְתִּיּוֹת

I called Your name, God, from the depths of the pit.

ג:נו

3:56

קוֹלִי, שָׁמָעְתָּ …

You heard my voice…

ג:נז

3:57

קָרַבְתָּ בְּיוֹם אֶקְרָאֶךָּ, אָמַרְתָּ אַל-תִּירָא

You have drawn closer on the day I called You, You said: do not fear.

יְהִי רָצוֹן מִלְּפָנֶֽיךָ ה’ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ וֵֽאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ שֶׁתּוֹלִיכֵֽנוּ לְשָׁלוֹם וְתַצְעִידֵֽנוּ לְשָׁלוֹם וְתִסְמְכֵֽנוּ לְשָׁלוֹם וּתְבִיאֵֽנוּ אֶל־מְחוֹז חֶפְצֵֽנוּ לְחַיִּים וּלְשָׁלוֹם וְתַצִּילֵֽנוּ מִכַּף כָּל־אוֹיֵב וְאוֹרֵב בַּדֶּֽרֶךְ וְתִשְׁלַח בְּרָכָה בְּמַעֲשֵׂה יָדֵֽינוּ וְתִתְּנֵֽנוּ לְחֵן וּלְחֶֽסֶד וּלְרַחֲמִים בְּעֵינֶֽיךָ וּבְעֵינֵי כָל־רוֹאֵֽנוּ כִּי אַתָּה שׁוֹמֵֽעַ תְּפִלַּת עַמְּךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּרַחֲמִים.

May it be Your will, Adonai, our God and God of our ancestors that You lead us toward peace, support our footsteps towards peace, guide us toward peace, and make us reach our desired destination, for life and peace, and rescue us from all enemies and those who lie in wait for us on the way, and send a blessing our handiworks, and grant us peace, kindness, and mercy in Your eyes and in the eyes of all who see us, because You listen to the prayer of Your people Israel with mercy.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה ה’ שׁוֹמֵֽעַ תְּפִלָּה.

Blessed are You, God, who listens to prayer.

Hashkiveinu / Lay Us Down

הַַשְׁכִּיבֵנוּ ה’ אֱלֹהֵינוּ לְשָׁלוֹם … וּפְרוֹשׂ עָלֵינוּ סֻכַּת שְׁלוֹמֶךָ … וּבְצֵל כְּנָפֶיךָ תַּסְתִּירֵנוּ

Lie us down, Adonai our God, in peace … and spread over us a shelter of Your peace … and cradle us in the shade of Your wing
